Sanibel real estate blog: Florida’s housing market shows positive gains in September

While the nation existing home sales declined in September, Florida continues positive growth mode with more closed sales, higher median prices, & increased pending sales.

Reports from the Florida Board of Realtors Association show 22 months in a row of a steady rise in median sales price. The statewide median sales price last month was $170,000, up 17.2% from the previous year. Statewide closed sales of existing single-family homes totaled 18,400, up 18.8% from a year ago. Condos and townhomes were up 11.4 % from last year, with 8279 closed sales. The statewide condo median price was $ 130,000, up 23.5% over the previous year.

Lee County is fairing pretty well too. The September median price was $168,500 and that is 24.8% higher than last September. 942 homes were sold and that is a 15% increase from last year. Since the beginning of the year, Lee County’s median price has risen 19 % .
